Amritpuri Ashram, Kerala, India

Amritapuri Ashram

Founded by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, popularly known as Amma, this ashram is established to raise spirituality in the heart of human beings and also to improve the social conditions of the poor.

Ma Amma is the divine personality of the ashram. She devoted whole of her life towards the development and welfare of the poor and down trodden people. She counseled millions of visitors who came from all over the world. As a propagator of peace, tranquility and love she tried to give people the feeling of belonging by removing their jealously and avarice factors. She demonstrates the greatness of God through her preaching.

According to her, by preaching God you will get self-realization that is so in her ashram the main idol is Goddess Kali. It is said that Kali can hack off the ego with great ease and once you get rid of it, you will find inner peace and attain self-realization.

To execute the teaching of the holy Mother, many devotees shed their humdrum and followed the rigorous routine of Amritapuri Ashram.

In Ashram you will find peace and serenity as you will hear Vedic chants in the morning, then Ganapathi and Sahasranaman Homam (Havan), Bhajans all in daily routine. Visitors enjoy tranquility in the ashram.  In 1993, Amma for her work was chosen as the presidents of Congress of global religion, in Chicago. In the same year she was honored with "Hindu Renaissance Award" by Hinduism Today a magazine based on Indian culture.
