
This is a small hill station located in the foothills of West Bengal at an attitude of 1250 metres. Originally this town was part of Bhutan but later on it become part of West Bengal. Kalimpong is famous for its monasteries, private library and churches.
Main Attractions of Kalimpong
Durpin Dhara : This is the highest point in Kalimpong offering a breath-taking view of the rolling plains and the mighty Teesta. Old Monastery Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brang is located here.
Dr. Graham's Homes : This is a unique educational institute. This can easily accommodate 700 boys and girls and is spread over a 500 acre estate complete with own poultry, dairy and bakery.
Thongsha Gumpha : This monastery was built in the year 1630 and is the oldest monastery in this region.
Pedong Monastery : This is another old monastery built in 1837 that is 26kms away from Kalimpong.
Gauripur House : This is one of the favorite haunts of Poet Rabindranath Tagore that has been now converted to Co-operative Training Institute.
