Coonoor is one of the famous hill stations in South India situated on Doddabetta range at an altitude of 1,858 meters above the sea level. Coonoor is home to the Coon hill tribe. Tourists here enjoy tea brushes, grassy meadows and wealth of flowers like Sunflowers, Rhododendrons and Marigolds. Apart from this place is also good for trekking and hiking.

Sim's Park : This is one of the important tourist attractions in Coonoor that spread over 12-hectare land. Here you will find collection of more than 1,000 plant species such as Pines, Magnolia, Tree ferns and Camellia. This botanical garden is named after J. D. Sim, who was the secretary of the Madras Club in 1874. Every year in the month of May, annual fruit and vegetable show organized which attract number of tourists here.
The Pasteur Institute : This institute is specialized in the research for vaccines of Polio and rabies. This institute remains open to general public only on Saturday.
Pomological Station : This is a research center of the State Agricultural Department for Apricot, Pomegrantes and Persimmon.
Dolphin's Nose Viewpoint : This is 10 km from Coonoor and is a spectacular spot to visit. This light house not only provides a panoramic view of the vast expanse of the Nilgiri hills but also famous for Catherine falls.
Lamb's rock : This is an excellent picnic spot near Coonoor. This lamb's rock is named after the man Captain Lamb. This Lamb's rock is a serrated cliff that drops down to lush jungle. Near to it you will find Hulical ravine.
