Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir
Ladakh Ladakh, the region of mountain passes is the highest plateau of Indian state of Kashmir. It spreads over an area of 45110 sqkm. Ladakh region is divided in Leh and Kargil district both bounded by world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Karakoram and the Great Himalayas. Ladakh region is well known for remote mountain beauty and culture.

Main Attractions of Ladakh

Zangskar valley : this lies to the south west of Leh surrounded by the Himalayan and Zangskar ranges. This valley comprises of two main valleys named as Stod (Doda Chu ) and Lunak(Tsarab Chu). The main attractions in Zangskar are ancient Buddhist monasteries like Stongde, Bardan, Zongkhul, Phuktal and Sunni Place.

Leh : This is the largest town of the region located to the north of the Indus River at an elevation of 3600 m above sea level. Earlier this town was dominated by the Namgyal Tsemo built by KingTashi Namgyal in the 16th century. Later on in 17th century during the region of King Graspa Bum-Lde and it become on the famous trade center in Central Asia.

Kargil : This is around 204 kms to the east of Srinagar and 234 Kms to the west of Leh located on the bank of the Suru River. Till 14th century A.D people here were following Buddhist religion but presently it is Shia sect is inhabited by Muslims.

Alchi : Here you will find many significant historical site s in Asia. Alchi is located near to Srinagar-Leh highway.

Biafo Glacier : This glacier is situated on the southern slopes of the central Karakoram Range in the Baltistan area of Jammu and Kashmir. This arena is hemmed by high peaks.
