Pithoragarh This is the Mini Kashmir of Uttarakand nestled in a small valley barely 5m long and 2 km wide from Sore Valley. Pithoragarh lies in the center of four hills Dhwaj, Chandak,Thal Kedar and Kundar.

Tourist here enjoys the panoramic view of snow range extending from Nanada Devi, Panchchuli group, Mount Appi of Nepal.

Main Attractions of Pithoragarh

Askot Wildlife Sanctuary : This Sanctuary established 1986 and is located in the pastrol surrounding of Indo- Nepal border in Pithoragarh.

Munsyari : This is base camp for treks to Ralam, Milam, Namik Glacier. It stands at an attitude of 2,135 metres above sea level. Near to this you will find Maheshwari Kund, Thamri Kund and Apline lakes.

Pithoragarh Fort : This fort is located on top of a hill on the outskirts of Pithoragarh built by the Gorkhas back in the year 1789.

Kapileshwar Mahadev : This cave temple is located about 3 kms from Pithoragarh and dedicated to Lord Shiva. It provides a beautiful view of the Soar valley and the Himalayan peaks.

Dhwaj Temple : This is very famous shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Maa Jayanti. Here tourist can take a breathtaking view of the snow capped peaks that surround it.

Nakuleshwara : This is situated 10kms fromPithoragarh is Nakuleshwara. Legends said that this Nakuleshwara temple was built by Nakul and Sahdev (two brothers of Pandavas).

Askot Sanctuary : This beautiful sanctuary is located about 54 kms from Pithoragarh nestles at a height of 5412 feet above sea level. It is very popular among nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. It is a haven for Himalayanblack bears, snow leopards, musk deers, tahra, snow cocks, bharals, Koklas, chirs, pheasants and chukors.

Chaukori : This small hill town Chaukori located 112 km from Pithoragarh provides you a great weather and majestic views of snow capped peaks. The entire area is filled with tea gardens and orchards.

Gangolihat : This sacred site is famous for the Hatkalika Fair that held on the ashtami of Chaitra month at the Kalika temple. Devotees at this time visit the shrine with drums and flags to pay homage to Goddess Kalika.

Jhulaghat : This small town on the Indo-Nepal border is named after a hanging bridge on the Kali River. One can enter Nepal through this bridge. The small market here deals in Nepali goods and other electronic items.
