Introduction to Wayanad

Wayanad is situated in the southern tip of the Deccan plateau and is a part of the 1600 kilometer long Western Ghats, now it is also included in UNESCO World Heritage site. Wayanad's Major Attractions :

Chembra Peak - Chembra peak is the tallest peak in this region and situated near Meppadi in the southern part of Wayanad at the height of 2100 meters. It is one of the popular camping zone in Kerala for the rock climbers and give its visitors a unforgettable experience.

Neelimala - It is trekkers' delight due to its different options for trekking routes. The view of Meenmutty falls from the top of Neelimala gives immense pleasure to nature lovers.

Pakshipathalam - Pakshipathalam is situated near Manathavady and comprises of large boulders and is the home of varied birds, animals and rare species of plants.

Chethalayam - Chethalayam fall is located near of Sulthan Bathery in the northern part of Wayanad.

Banasura Sagar Dam - This one among the largest dam in India is located in the southern part of Wayanad district and situated near to the Karalad Lake. Here you can find a set of interesting islands which were formed during submerged reservoir.

This nature's best place is also known for spices, coffee, tea, bamboo, honey and many more herbal plants. Decmeber to February are the best months to visit the God's land. The other best places are Edakkal cave, Kruruva Island, Lakkidi, Muthunga Wild Life Sanctuary, Pazhassi Raja Tomb, Pookot Lake, Sentinel Rock Waterfalls etc.
